On Thursday 22nd September cadets undertook their first full training day of the year. The morning consisted of lessons on Navigation and Mapwork and by 11:00 we were gathered at Hainault Country Park to undertake their Orienteering course. Initially cadets were taken round a basic course in groups of 8, tutored by their instructors and they then took it in turns to navigate. After a quick lunch 9 Senior cadets took on a 4km assessment course, on their own. The remaining cadets then worked in small groups to plan routes and navigate to set orienteering stations located throughout the forest.
Congratulation to QM Corporal Kelly, Lance Corporal Kidd and Cadet Ross Lear who managed to successfully find all 10 Orienteering markers and complete the 4km in 67 minutes. Thank you also to our volunteer cadet instructors who gave up their day to make the event such a success.
