St. Aubyn's School

London 2012 - Get Set

St. Aubyn's has been recognised by the London 2012 Organising Committee as a school that is demonstrating its commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic Values and has become a member of the Get Set network.

Get Set  is the official London 2012 education programme, and through this programme, our pupils have been learning about the Games and the Olympic and Paralympic Values.  There have been assemblies on the different values and on Olympic hopefuls aim to achieve their goal of competing at the Games. We will be rewarding the achievements of pupils who demonstrate the values through a sticker reward scheme.

In addition we are incorporating  the Olympics into other lessons. For example geography lessons will involve projects researching some of the Countries taking part. Maths lessons in the Senior School have included the Symmetry of flags in Venn diagrams and investigations involving the cirlcles that make up the Olympic rings (see below).

Over the coming months, we will be getting ready for London 2012 by linking more work to the Games and ensuring that our pupils feel that they are a part of this once-in-a-lifetime event.

We look forward to updating you on this exciting work.
