Year 8 spent two days at Herts Young Mariners Base in Cheshunt in the first week of term to help give them the skills to work well together in their last year at St. Aubyn's.
Day 1 involved climbing, caving, sailing and canoeing. Everyone achieved their goals in the activities thanks to the encouragement of the rest of their team. James provided the best 'You've Been Framed' moment by placing one foot on a boat that drifted away from the jetty, where he had left his other foot. After the splits came the splash!
After a hearty meal in our hostel we took a tour of the Olympic Canoe venue in Waltham Abbey which was being put to good use by some experienced canoeists.
Day 2 saw more water based activities with bell boating and open kayaking. This time it was the turn of JP and Ruben to entertain us by falling out of their kayak before their paddles had got wet.
The two days flew by and we returned to School on Friday afternoon with a bag full of wet clothes and lots of good memories.
